A reflection of this approach was the work of Mamduh Kashlan. In “Local Street”, he depicts a typical street in the old district of the city with picturesque neighborhoods and quaint buildings. A cashlan with a mark of observation conveys many details characteristic of old Damascus – wooden blinds on the windows, asymmetrically located windows on stone walls, consoles supporting balconies, constantly arches. In some paintings, the author gives a panorama of the Syrian capital with a translucent haze of warm air hiding the sharp outlines of buildings, reveals the romantic beginning of the city’s appearance. Ostracons constitute a significant, but little-known layer of Egyptian art. They can be divided into several categories: drawings, sketches, compositions for wall paintings and reliefs, fluent full-scale sketches, in which the masters made sketches of vivid postures, facial expressions, gestures, drawings, models, which served as a kind of visual aids.

Cologne … Many have heard of this German city on the Rhine, a major center of medieval European culture. Well-known Cologne Cathedral – an unsurpassed monument of Gothic architecture. His spiers, like gigantic petrified conifers, rush into the sky to a half meter height. The story of the building is unusual. It began to be built in 1248.
