Carpaccio is related by poetic mood to the greatest of the Venetian painters of the 15th century – Giovanni Bellini, the youngest son of Jacopo. But his artistic interests lay in a slightly different sphere. The masters were not carried away by the detailed narrative, genre motives, although he had a lot of work in the genre of historical painting, beloved by the Venetians.
